brain jumble2011-365-273: September babies
Honoured to be among those shot from the womb during September, I was invited to partake in a combined (conjoined??) September babies birthday party this evening, evidenced by this lovely part of the message wall. I truly know some lovely people.
2011-365-272: Machine of DeathChecked out a deck of the Machine of Death "Death Prediction cards" this evening (we didn't get a chance to try out any of the basic games people have created for them, though!). (Impatient vulture! GASP!) It reminds me I really need to get reading that book, too - i'm just so deep into Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell that anything short-storyish seems impossible to snack on at the moment. Woe.
2011-365-271: Mates of State
Tonight my gentleman friend took me to see some popular music and it was rather good! Mates of State are a keyboard/drum duo with a bit of guitar backing, and have some solid singalong pop tunes. Good times!
2011-365-270: Trivia hard. TV good.
Tonight we went to the first (of many, I assume) Futurama quiz night. I've not even seen 3 full seasons do wasn't much help - but it's so hard to remember stuff and specifics from TV shows! (I think I'd struggle with Firefly, even.) I think I would rather watch more of the show than flounder again so soon. Or go better prepared next time :)
Anyhow, long story short - here are some quiz attendees dressed up! Yay. 2011-365-269: Geburtstag
Cake! And now I am 32. Thanks to friends who made it a lovely day/evening, despite it being a Monday.
2011-365-268: Death by brunchI went for a pre-birthday brunch at the Hogtown Vegan today, as i'd been meaning to head back there since they've started serving brunch. I was paralysed with choice - did I get the full English, what about the maple sausage waffle, possibly the breakfast biscuits, aaaaah. And then I went with this - the peanut butter banana sammich. Two slices of french toast filled with a gorgeous peanut sauce, tofu bacon & banana slices w/ maple syrup for drizzling/dipping. WIth a side of crispy, delicious home fries. IT KILLED ME. With deliciousness. Happy with that choice, although I saw a LOT of the full English coming out to other customers when we were eating though, and i'm going to crave a fry-up for many days to come now, I just know it.
2011-365-267: Donutty
Yesterday was a missed photo day, a super rainy day and a generally lazy uninteresting day. Today was donut day, however, and I made a new flavour - peanut butter chocolate! Mmmm. Donuts.
2011-365-265: Carcassonne
Our old roomie visited for dinner and a catch up tonight. We played a bit of Carcassonne, too. I really do love it, such a classic. Only 100 days left of my project!
2011-365-264: Leaves ChangingIt's barely autumn, I know - but i'm seeing the first signs of leaves changing - the green's starting to seep away and soon enough everything will be crispy and brown on the ground. I love this time of year, oh man oh man! I didn't actually snap this today (bit miserable and rainy out), but a couple of days ago - I walk by this pretty much every day though so it'll serve nicely for today's photo as everything else ended up being kind of a blur of stuff and no photos.
2011-365-263: DC
I got a postcard today, from my friends Alex and Scott. They're heading home to Australia and seeing some rad stuff on their way - and making my begging for postcards worthwhile, heh. I've been wanting to visit DC for ages now - all the museums, don't you know - and Alex says it's my kinda town for sure. One day.. Gosh, I miss travelling :(
